Information For First Time Visitors

Where do I go?

Greenwood Presbyterian Church is located at 1414 Calhoun Rd, Greenwood, SC 29649. Greeters at the main entrance will help direct you to Sunday school classes (9:30 AM) and to the sanctuary for our worship service (10:30 AM). There is a table in the main hallway with information and resources for visitors.

What about my children?

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven” (Matt 19:14). Children of all ages are welcome in our worship service. If desired, there is nursery available for infants and for 2-3 year olds. All of our nursery volunteers have submitted to a background check, have completed child volunteer training, and abide by our child protection policy.

What should I wear?

You are welcome to attend wearing whatever clothes make you comfortable. You’ll fit in with either traditional or casual dress.

What is the worship service like?

You’ll be welcomed by a warm and loving family of God! Our worship as God’s family aims to be both joyful and reverent. We sing praises to God using old and new hymns and praise songs. We offer prayers of praise, thanksgiving, confession of sin, and intercession for the needs of our church family and community. We mediate on God’s word, recite God’s word together in responsive readings, and hear God’s word read and preached. Sermons are based on the Bible, presenting the good news of Jesus Christ crucified and how it applies to our lives. 

We collect offerings, but please do not feel obligated to give. There is a tear off tab in our bulletin to fill out with your information that you can drop in the offering plate as it comes around.

We celebrate the Lord’s Supper each month (varying the Sunday within the month). Often, we have a “moment for missions,” a brief report from a foreign missionary or local ministry.
